La Fenice, in Positano on Italy's majestic Amalfi coast takes its name from the mythological Egyptian bird. Perched above the Tyrrhenian Sea amidst lush Mediterranean vegetation, La Fenice enjoys a most impressive position. The scent of flowers, the hillside position, the enchanting views of the sea make this quiet and romantic spot great for both families and lovers is an ideal place to enjoy your stay on the Amalfi Coast.
La Fenice cascades down the hill on several levels by a series of steps that will appeal to the fit traveler. The main villa boasts seven elegantly decorated and furnished bedrooms, three with terraces. The rooms are simply and sparsely furnished with very comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms.
An independent building set into the cliff below the main villa, houses eight additional rooms of varying sizes. Most of these rooms have a private terrace. Nearby, in the fresh morning hours, at an open-air bar beneath a bougainvillea-wrapped pergola, you can start your day with a continental breakfast and a cup of heady Italian coffee. |

Below the bar on another level even closer to the sea, you will arrive at the curved seawater pool (open June to October) with its companion Jacuzzi carved into the mountain rock. During the summer months, near the pool under the shade of ancient trees, you can enjoy a sumptuous Mediterranean lunch while listening to the lapping waves below.
You can reach the sea itself by following the path down from the villa - to take the sun on the small beach there, to go for a swim, or to board a boat for private cruise perhaps.
The B&B La Fenice is well-positioned for excursions in and around the Amalfi Coast...a wonderful place from which to go exploring and a beautiful place to return to at day's end. Tours, scooter rentals, cruises, and other itineraries can be arranged at your convenience. |
